Frequently Asked Questions

What is a redemption center?

Per the Department of Environmental Conservation, a redemption center is a business that accepts empty containers for redemption from the public and pays the refund value.

What type of items do you accept?

The center redeems NY-labeled 5-cent  water and beverage containers. Beverages covered by the NY bottle bill are Soft Drinks, including Sparkling Water, Carbonated Energy Drinks, Carbonated Juice (anything less than 100% juice containing added sugar or Water), Carbonated Tea, Soda, Water, Beer, and Other Malt Beverages. Mineral Water - both carbonated and non-carbonated mineral water, Wine Products, and Water which does not contain sugar, including flavored or nutritionally enhanced Water. (www.dec.ny.gov)

How should I bring in my beverage containers?

We asked that you sort your cans and bottles, placing an equal amount in each bag. Please label each bag to indicate the quantity. For glass, you must have 24 bottles, and they should be lined up in a box.

How many beverage containers can I redeem per visit?

You can redeem unlimited NY-label beverage containers. However, the law requires a FORM be completed by both you and a representative from the redemption center if you are presenting 2,500+ beverage containers (or $125 worth of 5-cent deposit containers) at one time (www.dec.ny.gov)

Do I have to make an appointment before coming to the redemption center?

No, you do not have to make an appointment.  Just walk in.  The Center is open Monday - Saturday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Summer and Holiday hours may vary.

Can I call you to come and pick up my redeemable items?

No, we do not offer pick-ups.  We would love to, but the high fuel cost has caused us to limit our services to the center only.

Do you participate in fundraising?

Yes. We are happy to accept bottle drives from local schools, churches, and community outreach programs to assist with their fundraising efforts.
